Trial completion of all martyred intellectuals’ killers demanded

RAJSHAHI, Dec 15, 2017 (BSS) – Administrative officials, valiant freedom fighters and professional leaders on Thursday demanded immediate completion of trial of the killers of martyred intellectuals and war criminals to free the nation from stigma.

They called for foiling the conspiracies being hatched by the defeated anti-liberation forces to destabilise the country and hinder the massive development process through attacking and killing innocent people.

They were addressing a discussion organised by Deputy Commissioner Office at its conference hall in observance of the Martyred Intellectuals’ Day.

Former Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and Commissioner of Rajshahi Division Nur-Ur-Rahman addressed the discussion as chief and special guests respectively with Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud Sharif in the chair.

Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Sarder Tamij Uddin Ahmed, Additional DIG of Police of Rajshahi Range Mashudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Superintendent of Police Muazzem Hossain Bhuiyan and freedom fighter Dr Abdul Mannan also spoke on the occasion.

The discussants said the anti-liberation forces wanted to make the nation talent-less through killing of the intellectuals.

“Local collaborators of the Pakistani occupation forces clearly understood their defeat on the eve of the country’s independence in 1971 and killed hundreds of intellectuals on this soil,” said Khairuzzaman Liton.

Sensing an imminent defeat, the Pakistani occupation army and their local collaborators carried out the cold-blooded mass murders under a carefully thought-out plan to cripple the emerging Bangladesh intellectually.

He called upon the pro-liberation forces for launching stiff resistance against the anti-liberation forces and assisting the present government in completing trial of the war criminals for the crimes they committed against humanity on this soil in 1971.

Earlier in the morning, they placed wreaths at the Collectorate Shaheed Minar to pay due respect to the martyred intellectuals.
