Authorities order PBI engagement for rape probe in Chittagong

CHITTAGONG, Dec 26, 2017 (BSS) - Authorities today entrusted police's specialized Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to track down a group of dacoits who raped four women here nearly two weeks ago raiding an expatriate's house.

"We have now taken it's charge," PBI's head in Chittagong Additional Police Superintendent Mohammad Moin Uddin told newsmen as the case was being investigated by ordinary police.

Officials familiar with the process said three suspects were arrested earlier while manhunt was underway to track all the culprits down but PBI engagement was ordered for intensifying the process.

They said State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, who was elected to parliament from a Chittagong constituency, also kept an eye on the progress of the investigation.
