DHAKA, Nov 30, 2017 (BSS) - A four-day SAARC Cultural Festival began today at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) here.
The BSA is organizing the festival in association with the Cultural Affairs Ministry and SAARC Cultural Center.
Cultural Affairs Secretary Ibrahim Hossain Khan inaugurated the festival in the evening at Nandanamancha of the Shilpakala Academy as the chief guest with Director General of Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky in the chair.
Director of the SAARC Cultural Center Wasanti Kotoala was present as the special guest.
The traditional stick game will be held at the Nandanmancha of the Academy at 4pm every day from 4pm onwards.
In the next two days, from December 1pm to 2pm, SAARC traditional dance will be held at the National Theater Auditorium at 5pm. Dace groups from hosts Bangladesh, India, Bhutan, the Maldives and Sri Lanka will take part.
Besides, the exhibition will open for public at the National Art Gallery of the Academy everyday from 11am to 8pm.
The concluding ceremony will be held at the National Theater Auditorium at 5.30 pm on December 3 next.
As part of the SAARC Handicraft Showcase and Dance Festival, two separate workshops will also be held as part of the event.
The handicrafts workshop will take place from 10am to 5pm on December 1-2 at Gallery 4 of the National Art Gallery, while the dance workshop will take place at the National Theatre Hall Seminar Room.
Artist Kamruzzaman Shadhin will conduct the handicrafts workshop, while noted dancer Tamanna Rahman will be the chief coordinator of the dance workshop.
