DITF receives Tk 160cr export orders

DHAKA, Feb 4, 2018 (BSS) - The Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) 2018 ended today with a record of Tk 160.57 crore worth export orders.

Businesspeople sold products worth Tk 87.83 crore in the 35-day long 23rd DITF, Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) disclosed it at the closing ceremony of the DITF.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, commerce minister Tofail Ahmed said a permanent structure will be constructed for the fair on a 35 acre of land in Purbachal. A Chinese firm has been given the work of this project which is expected to be completed by 2030, he added.

He said DITF ended peacefully as there was political stability.

Chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on commerce Md Tajul Islam Chowdhury, commerce secretary Shubhashish Bosu and FBCCI president Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin also spoke on the occasion.

EPB vice-chairman Bojoy Bhattacharjey presided over the closing ceremony.

There were a total of 589 stalls and pavilions including 64 premium pavilions, 27 foreign pavilions and eight mini foreign pavilions and also 24 food stalls in the fair venue.

A total of 43 foreign organisations including India, Bhutan, Pakistan, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Nepal, Japan, Australia, Germany, Hong Kong and the Arab Emirates participated in this year's fair.
