Per capita income rises to $1,610

DHAKA, Nov 14, 2017 (BSS) - The per capita income rose by US$ 145 to US$ 1,610 in fiscal year 2016-17 from US$ 1,465 in FY16, according to Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

In a provisional calculation in May this year, BBS expected that the per capita income would stand at US$ 1,602 by the end of the FY17. But in the final calculation the per capita income stood at US$ 1,610, US$ 8 more from the provisional estimation.

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal disclosed it while briefing journalists at the NEC conference room after an ECNEC meeting here today.

He said the per capita income has increased as the country's economic growth also witnessed a rise in FY17. The size of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) has also increased, he added.
