DHAKA, April 17, 2018 (BSS) - Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar today said the government is going to include information and communication technology (ICT) in primary curriculum within next two years.

"Where only eight lakh people used to have internet connectivity in 2008. Now in 2018, we have 8.5 crore internet users in the country. We have around 15 crore people, who are now using mobile phones. Literacy rate in the country now stands at 72 percent," he said.

The minister said these while addressing the second and concluding day of a training workshop in the capital on programming competition for children and adolescents.

The workshop has been organized by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) and Young Bangla, the youth platform of the Centre for Research and Information (CRI). ICT teachers of some selected schools and a coordinator of Young Bangla have been given the training during the workshop.

"The training workshop has been held successfully. Now the people, who were trained in the workshop, will go back to their respective institutes and would organize area-based training and competition," assistant coordinator of CRI Tanmay Ahmed told BSS.
