DU Journalism Dept holds freshers' reception

DHAKA, Nov 14, 2017 (BSS) - Dhaka University (DU) Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) Department today organized a reception to welcome 2016-17 session students and bid farewell to outgoing students of the department.

Dhaka University former Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the programme while MCJ Department Chairman Prof Mofizur Rhaman chaired it. Teachers, current and former students of the department attended the function.

Prof Arefin said the main duty of journalists is to uncover the truth behind the scene.

"The students of the department have been playing an important role in the field of journalism," he added.

Four retired teachers of the department- Prof Dr Sakhawat Ali Khan, Chief Information Commissioner Prof Golam Rahman, Prof Samsul Majid Harun and Prof Kazi Abdul Mannan - were accorded farewell reception on the occasion.

Later, students staged a stunning cultural function.
