BUET-87 Foundation distributes blankets among cold victims of northern districts

RANGPUR, Bangladesh, Jan 18 (BSS) - BUET-87 Foundation, an organisation of the 1987-1988 session students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), has been distributing huge blankets among the cold-hit people of the northern districts.

The Foundation started distributing the blankets from January 15 as a part of its fortnight long programme with a view to mitigate sufferings of the distressed people in Rangpur, Gaibandha and Dinajpur.

Led by President of Bangladesh Chapter of BUET-87 Foundation Engineer Nayeem Ahmed, the ex-students, who started their classes during the session 1987-1988 in BUET, have been distributing the blankets with the assistances of their local colleagues.

The Foundation members started distribution of quality blankets among the cold-hit distressed people including women and babies at Rangpur Rail Station on January 15.

On January 16, they distributed blankets among the cold-hit people at Modern Mour and Ashratpur areas in the outskirts of Rangpur city and among the distressed aboriginal Santal community people in village Taz Nagar under Mithapukur upazila.

After distribution of 500 pieces blankets at these places on Saturday and Sunday, they brought more 500 pieces of similar blankets to Rangpur from Dhaka today and those will be distributed among the cold-victims of Rangpur, Gaibandha and Dinajpur in two days.

Supplies of blankets will be continued and the same will be distributed among the cold-hit people of the sub-Himalayan northern districts till January 31, President of Bangladesh Chapter of the Foundation Engineer Nayeem Ahmed told BSS here today.

Ex-cadet of Rangpur Cadet College Maksud Ul Alam Chowdhury,
members of Old Fauzian Association of Chittagong Chapter Dr Mezbah Uddin Ahmed and Mohammad Shahjahan are supporting the distribution.

While talking to BSS today, Nayeem Ahmed mentioned that BUET
87 Foundation lunched this support for the cold victims of Bangladesh this year and its members and their friends from all over the globe are assisting through www.buet87.org.
