Sheikh Hasina leads struggle for economic emancipation: Quader

DHAKA, March 8, 2018 (BSS) - Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been leading the country's struggle for achieving economic emancipation to turn the country into a 'Sonar Bangla' as dreamt by her father, said Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced a complete framework for economic emancipation in her yesterday's address marking the 7th March," he told newsmen after a meeting of the party's office affairs sub-committee at Awami League president's Dhanmondi political office here.

Quader, also the minister for road transport and bridges, said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had declared about the economic and political freedom of Bangladesh in his landmark 7th March speech in 1971.

"We attained political freedom under the leadership of Bangabandhu. But anti-liberation forces assassinated Bangabandhu and most of his family members before the struggle for economic emancipation became success," he added.

The AL general secretary expressed his optimism that the country will attain the economic emancipation under the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to materialize his dream.

Quader said Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina in her yesterday's address called upon the people so that anti-liberation war communal forces cannot come to power in future.

"But why BNP leaders got hurt at the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we want to know it," he added.

AL Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua and other members of the office affairs sub-committee were present on the occasion.
