DHAKA, Dec 7, 2017 (BSS) - Prime Minister's International Affairs Advisor Dr Gowher Rizvi today said poverty will never end if corruption exists in the country.
"Rooting out poverty is impossible if we cannot check corruption and the media should allow to work against it," he said while distributing investigating reporting prize 2017 among journalists at TIB in the capital.
Rizvi said the government is not making any interference on the mass media.
"If anybody intervenes the media which was only for his/her own interest and the person himself is responsible for it," he said.
Referring to the alleged corruption by a particular department, division or agency of the government, the advisor said the media shouldn't criticize the whole government for such graft allegation.
Chaired by Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and TIB Trustee Board Member Dr ATM Shamsul Huda, the meeting was also attended, among others, by TIB Board of Trustee Member M Hafizuddin Khan, Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman and Advisor Professor Dr Sumaiya Khair.
A total of nine journalists from different media were awarded TIB prize for investigative journalism.
