Tougher action against persons responsible for attack on Fakhrul: Hasan

DHAKA, June 19, 2017 (BSS)- Publicity and Publications Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud today said tough action would be taken against the people involved in the attack on BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's motorcade.

"The attack on Alamgir's motorcade is really sad and unacceptable. Investigation is going on into the incident," he said while addressing a meeting as the chief guest. Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) organised the event at the auditorium of Shilpokala Academy here.

On the day, a vehicle of the motorcade hit two people while crossing Icchakhali Bazar area of Ranguniya upazila in Chittagong, Mahmud said, adding that later the motorcade came under attack when the driver of the vehicle was involved in altercation with the local people.

He said, "The BNP is now spreading falsehood over the attack making Awami League responsible."

Awami League leader Advocate Boloram Poddar, Swadhinota Chikithshok Parishad General Secretary Shajahan Alam Sujan, Muktijuddha Projonmo League President Asaduzzaman Durjoy and BSJ General Secretary Arun Sarker Rana, among others, addressed the event with BSJ President ATM Shamzzaman in the chair.
