Envoy designate to Maldives calls on President

DHAKA, May 11, 2017 (BSS) - Ambassador (designate) to Maldives Rear Admiral Akhter Habib today made a courtesy call on President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban.

During the meeting, the President mentioned the excellent bilateral relation between Bangladesh and Maldives as member countries of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), President's press secretary Md Joynal Abedin told BSS.

President Hamid asked the envoy to take necessary initiatives to expand the bilateral relation between the two friendly countries.

He also directed the ambassador to expand trade and commerce relation giving priority to some sectors including readymade garments (RMG), pharmaceuticals, jute, leather goods, plastic items and ceramics.

The President wished the ambassador's a very successful tenure in Maldives.
