Administrator for HAAB demanded

DHAKA, Aug 23, 2016 (BSS) Umrah Hajj Agencies Welfare
Association of Bangladesh (UHAWAB) and Coordination Council of
Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) today demanded
removal of existing HAAB executive committee for their alleged
involvement with ticket syndication, corruption and human
trafficking in the name of Hajj and Umrah.

In separate petitions to the Commerce and Religious
Affairs Ministers as well as secretaries of the ministries,
they also requested to appoint an administrator to hold
election towards handing over the charge to new committee,
said a press release today.

UHAWAB Convener Alhaj Jamal Uddin Ahmmed, former HAAB
President and member secretary of UHAWAB Advocate Abdullah Al-
Naser, Joint-Convener and former HAAB senior vice president K
H M Tajul Islam, Joint Convener Nurul Huq, for HAAB senior
Vice President Golam Faruk, HAAB Coordination Council Convener
Ruhul Amin Mintu, Member Secretary Rezaul Karim Ujjal, among
others, were the signatories in the petitions.

They alleged HAAB used to collect annual fees from the
member, but the existing committee is collecting fee of Taka
200 from each hajji that means additional Taka 1.76 crore has
been accumulated.

Besides, they have also collected Taka 1.06 crore from
3,352 guides as toll and mishandled Taka 10 crore annually for
trolley bag that was supposed to be distributed by the
agencies. All these were violation of terms of operation, they
added.
