Like Mostaque, Zia also involved in Bangabandhu murder: Hanif

DHAKA, Aug 23, 2016 (BSS) - Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif yesterday said that like Khondokar Mostaque Ahmed, Ziaur Rahman was also involved in the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15, 1975.

"Though the trial of those involved directly in the Bangabandhu killing incident could be held, the trial of local and foreign conspirators behind the carnage could not be staged......if an inquiry commission regarding Bangabandhu killing could be constituted, the real mystery behind the murder could be unearthed and the masks of real killers could be unveiled," he said.

Hanif said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organised by Jatiya Sramik League (JSL) at Mohanagar Natyamancha at Gulistan Square in the city marking the National Mourning Day and 41st anniversary of martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

JSL president Sukkur Mahmud presided over the meeting, also addressed, among others, by Awami League (AL) organising secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, AL labour affairs secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, AL central working committee member SM Kamal Hossain, former president of JSL Abdus Salam Khan, executive president Fazlul Haq Montu, acting general secretary Advocate Humayun Kabir, vice-presidents Habibur Rahman Akhand, Aminul Islam Faruque, Mollah Abul Kalam Azad and Zahirul Islam Chowdhury and organising secretary Tofael Ahmed.
