Noor for expanding cultural activities to resist evil forces

DHAKA, Dec 09, 2015 (BSS) - Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor today called for expanding cultural activities in the country to resist communal forces.

"A vested communal force has been trying to tarnish the country's image abroad maligning the rich culture of Bangladesh by killings of writers of free thought, foreigners and journalists," he said and urged all in the society to raise their voice against the evil force.

The minister was inaugurating as chief guest the 3rd International Animation Cartoon Festival, Bangladesh-2015 at VIP auditorium of the National Press Club here.

With the slogan "The children will create a new world", the festival will be organised by the Children Communication, Bangladesh (CCB) with the cooperation of Ifad Group on December 13-15 at Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium of the Central Public Library at Shahbag.

A total of 17 animation child cartoon films of 10 countries including Bangladesh will be screened in the festival which will remain open for children from 10am-9pm.

"Though the animation cartoon films for children are not a popular media in the country, many personnel are trying their level best for survival of the artistic media with the personal efforts," the minister said and urged the entrepreneurs to come forward with their investment in the sector for building an enlightened new generation with good human quality and taste for rich culture of Bangladesh.

Popular cartoonist Ahsan Habib, managing director of Ifad Multi-food Products Limited Tanvir Ahmed, CCB adviser and chairman of the festival committee Sayeed Milky and CCB executive director Saima Akhter Rini were present, among others, at the press conference.

Later, the minister inaugurated a colourful truck march carrying popular cartoon characters like Mina, Raju, Mithu and Eggy from the venue marking the festival.
