Community radio service to be strengthened: Inu

DHAKA, Dec 9, 2015 (BSS) - Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu today said the government will strengthen the community radio service economically and technologically by amending its policy.

"Community radio can play important role to ensure health services, education, rights of people and free flow of information in rural areas," he said.

The minister was addressing as chief guest at a view-exchange meeting titled "Role of Community Radio in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and Implementing 7th Five-Year Plan" at Jatiya Press Club VIP lounge.

Associate Professor of Dhaka University Mass Communication and Journalism Department SM Samim Reza presented the keynote paper at the function while Bangladesh National Museum Trustee Board Chairman M Azizur Rahman, Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Deputy Managing Director M Fazlur Quader and Wave Foundation executive director Mohsin Ali were present, among others.

Inu said it is the duty of community radio to inform the rural people about different allocations of the government and its steps for the development.
