Teachers-NGOs coordinated efforts stressed to achieve SDGs

DHAKA, Dec 9, 2015 (BSS) - Speakers at a discussion said here today
school teachers and NGOs should play a leading role in a coordinated manner with a view to spreading literacy throughout the country to achieve the sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and make Unfinished Education for All (EFA) programme successful.

They called for coordination mechanism, formulation of national plans, monitoring and evaluation of the unfinished targets of EFA at the meeting organized by Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO and UNESCO Dhaka at BNCU conference hall at BANBEIS Bhaban in the city today.

Secretary of Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO Monjur Hossain presided over the programme while Additional Secretary of Ministry of Education Chowdhury Mufad Ahmed, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Dr Muzibur Rahman Hawlader, Officer-in-Charge of UNESCO Dhaka Office Kiichi Oyasu and programme directors of Save the Children and BRAC were also spoke.

Government officials and representatives from different partners and NGOs were present, among others, on the occasion.
