Ranga appreciates WASH activities in schools

RANGPUR, Aug 9, 2015 (BSS) - State Minister for Local Government,
Rural Development & Cooperatives Alhaj Mashiur Rahman Ranga MP has
appreciated Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) activities being
conducted by CARE Bangladesh in different schools under Gangachara
upazila.

He made the appreciation while inaugurating the 'Hand Washing Device'
for students and teachers at Betgari High School premises while
taking part in his various daylong programmes in Gangachara upazila
here on Saturday as the chief guest.

CARE Bangladesh organised the inaugural ceremony under its Community
Approaches to Total Sanitation (CATS) project being implemented with
financial assistance of the Government of Bangladesh and UNICEF.

Gangachara Upazila Chairman Asaduzzaman Bablu, Gangachara Upazila
Nirbahi Officer Tauhidul Islam, members of the School Management
Committee (SMC), teachers, students, guardians, representatives of
CARE Bangladesh attended the ceremony.

Thanking CARE Bangladesh for conducting WASH activities in many
schools of Gangachara upazila, the State Minister called upon the
teachers and guardians for making the students habituated with regular
hand washing practice in their daily life.

Bangladesh has achieved tremendous success in sanitation, hygiene and
ensuring pure drinking water for the population to substantially
reduce water borne diseases and related death rate in the process of
attaining the millennium development goals, he said.
