Naval ship Abu Bakr returns from China

DHAKA, May 13, 2014 (BSS) - Bangladesh Naval ship 'Abu Bakr' today returned home after taking part in International Fleet Review-2014 at Chen Dou in China on April 21-25.

Chittagong naval area commander Rear Admiral Kazi Sarwar Hossain welcomed the ship on its arrival at Chittagong Naval Jetty.

Area commanders of Chittagong naval area, other senior military officials and family members of the officials and shipmen were present on the occasion, said a press release.

As part of the five 14th Western Pacific Naval Symposium in China, the Bangladesh naval ship took part in International Fleet Review-2014 and Multilateral Maritime Exercise.

Besides Bangladesh, naval ships from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines took party in the events.

In the drill, there were 26 officers and 179 members of the navy on board the ship Abu Bakr under the leadership of Commander Fazlul Haq.

Commodore M Khaled Iqbal led the naval delegation during the visit.
