Youth held with gold at Shahjalal Airport

DHAKA, Feb 23, 2013 (BSS) - Armed Police Battalion (APBN) on Friday arrested a youth with 12 gold bars weighing about 1.4 kilograms at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Police said the arrested was identified as Mohammad Musharraf Hossain, 24, son of Mofiz Sardar under Kosba police station of Brahmanbaria district.

"Musharraf landed at the airport by a Saudi airlines . . .
(but) APBN members arrested him while passing through the customs
green channel hurriedly ignoring conveyor belt," Sub Inspector
Nitya Pado Das of Airport police station told BSS today.

"Security officials recovered the gold bars weighing about
1.4 kilograms in three money bags from his possession," he added.
During the interrogation, Musharraf confessed his link with
international gold smugglers, he said.
