Abiding by law creates stable situation: DIG Devdas

RANGPUR, Oct 07, 2018 (BSS) – Deputy Inspector General
(DIG) of Bangladesh Police for Rangpur Range Devdas
Bhattacharya here today said abiding by law always prevents
crimes creating stable situation in all spheres and prevents
road accidents.

“The exclusive ‘No Helmet, No Petrol’ innovative idea of
Rangpur district police has increased awareness amongst the
people and encouraged them to follow traffic laws. People can
safely return homes if they follow the traffic laws,” he
said.

The DIG made these observations while presiding over the
monthly crime, law and order assessment conference for
September-2018 held at his conference room in the city.

Additional DIGs, Superintendents of Police (SP) from
Rangpur, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Kurigram, Nilphamari,
Lalmonirhat, Dinajpur and Gaibandha districts under Rangpur
Range, among others, attended the conference.

Devdas said everyone has to be conscious and steps
should be taken to motivate the people to complying with the
law to stop crime and prevent road accidents to bring
discipline on the road as elsewhere in the society.

After elaborate discussions on overall law, order and
crime situations in Rangpur Range last month, the DIG
distributed medals among police personnel and organisations
for their laudable performances in handling crimes and
maintaining law and order.

SP of Rangpur Mizanur Rahman received a crest from the
DIG as award on behalf of Rangpur district police for
innovating the ‘No Helmet, no Petrol’ idea that effectively
created awareness among common people about traffic law.

Nilphamari SP Mohammad Ashraf Hossain received the best
district police award for September on behalf of Nilphamari
district police for maintaining excellent law and order in
the district.

Besides, Lalmonirhat unit of Traffic Police and
Nilphamari Sadar Thana were awarded as organisations for
their best performances.

The other awarded police personnel are- Additional SP
for Dinajpur Sadar Circle Shushanto Sarker, Sub-Inspector
(SI) Akhter Hossain of Roumari Thana in Kurigram, Assistant
Sub-inspector (ASI) Abdul Quddus of Gaibandha Sadar Thana,
and ASI Shawkat Alam Siddique of Gobindaganj Thana in
Gaibandha,

SP of Lalmonirhat SM Rashidul Haque got special award
for fixing traffic signs by the highway sides and Police
Inspector ATM Golam Rasul of Biral Thana in Dinajpur received
special award for recovering illegal arms.
