National Development Fair ends in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Oct 07, 2018 (BSS) -The three-day National Development Fair-2018
ended at Independence Square of the town on Saturday evening showcasing the
development activities of the government before the people.

The district administration arranged the fair at the directives of the
Prime Minister’s Office with the theme ‘Indomitable Bangladesh in Advancement
of Development’.

All the government and semi-government organizations including
nongovernment ones of the district presented their ongoing development
activities along with successes achieved so far through multimedia projector
to the visitors in the fair.

Ten special initiatives namely “Sheikh Hasina Branding” like Ekti Bari,
Ekti Khamar project, Ashrayan Prokalpa; Digital Bangladesh; Education
Assistance Programme; Women Empowerment Programme; Electricity for All;
Social Safety Net Programme; and Community Clinic and Mental Health
undertaken by the government were displayed at the exhibition, said NDC M.
Ashik Reza.

Besides, international recognitions and successes achieved by the PM,
Vision-2021 and 2041, ICT development, Bangabandhu Satellite, Padma Bridge
project and Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project and district brandings were
also displayed at the fair, he also said.

In addition, discussion meeting, seminar, staging of drama, debate
competition, and prize distribution and cultural functions were also held.

M. Azizul Islam, additional secretary of the Post and Telecommunication
Division, supervised the fair.

A closing ceremony organized by the district administration was also held
in evening with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rokhsana Begum in
the chair.

DC Gautam Chandra Pal addressed the function as the chief guest and Police
Super Engineer Abdul Mannan Miah, general secretary of Bangladesh Awami
League, district unit, Abu Bakar Siddique and mayor of Gaibandha Municipality
Adv Shah Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon were present at the event as the special
guests.

Later, prizes were given to the best stalls-Roads and Highways Department,
Fire Service and Civil Defense Services, Bankers Forum and Friendship. A
total of 80 stalls were set up in the fair. The stalls were opened to the
visitors everyday from 3 pm to 9 pm.

A large number of people from all walks of life including political
leaders, public representatives, social workers, cultural personalities,
students, teachers, guardians and journalists visited the fair with a festive
mood.

Similar fairs were held at upazila headquarters of the district.
