Development Fair-2018 begins in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, OCT 04, 2018 (BSS) – A three-day Development Fair-2018 began
on the premises of Independence Square of the town here today as elsewhere in
the country with the theme ‘Indomitable Bangladesh in Advancement of
Development’.

The fair is being held to inform the country’s people about the
development activities of the government, its success and ongoing programmes
being implemented by different government agencies.

To achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs)by 2030 and promote
government’s future plans through building Bangladesh as a middle-income
country by 2021 and developed one by 2041 are other objectives of the fair.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s 10 special initiatives namely ‘Sheikh
Hasina Branding’, international recognitions and successes, Vision-2021 and
2041, ICT development, Bangabandhu Satellite, Padma Bridge project and
Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project and district brandings would also be
displayed in the fair, said nezarat deputy collector of deputy commissioner’s
office M Ashik Reza.

In the morning, a discussion was organised by district administration.
Whip of Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini addressed
the meeting as the chief guest with DC Gautam Chandra Pal in the chair.

Additional secretary of Post and Telecommunication Division M Azizul
Islam, superintendent of police Abdul Mannan Miah, general secretary of
district Awami League Abu Bakar Siddique and mayor of Gaibandha Municipality
Adv Shah Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon were present.

Whip Mahabub Ara Begum Gini in her speeches said the government, led by
PM Sheikh Hasina, achieved tremendous progress in different sectors over last
nine years and a half.

Later, whip Gini inaugurated the fair by releasing balloons in the sky
and then the guests visited the stalls set up on the fair premises.

Earlier, all the people and invited guests watched the videoconference
of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina regarding countrywide development fair
through multimedia projector.

Talking to the BSS, deputy commissioner Gautam Chandra Pal said a total
of 80 stalls of government and non-government organisations were set up at
the fair venue.

He said similar fair is also being held at upazila headquarters of the
district.
