RAJSHAHI, Oct 3, 2018 (BSS) – Government officials and development
activists at a discussion put stress on collective efforts of all public and
private entities to boost production in both industrial and agriculture
sector.

Terming productivity as the most important factor for accelerating
development, the discussants also lay emphasis on innovating newer
technologies through conducting time-befitting trainings and research works
for socioeconomic uplifts.

District administration organized the discussion at its conference hall to
mark the National Productivity Day-2018 here on Tuesday with the main theme
of “Productivity Development for Happy and Prosperous Country”.

Industries Support Center of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries
Corporation (BSCIC) supported the meeting.

Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi division Jakir Hossain and Regional
Director of BSCIC Engineer Ajharul Islam addressed the meeting as chief and
special guests respectively with Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader in the
chair.

President of Bangladesh Silk Industries Owners Association Liakat Ali,
BSCIC Deputy General Manager Tamanna Rahman and local unit President of
Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industries Prof Rojety Naznin also
spoke. BSCIC Assistant Controller Nazrul Islam was the keynote speaker.

The speakers opined that emphasis should be given to create mass-awareness
about increasing industrial and agricultural productivity to meet the demands
from domestic sources.

They observed that authorities concerned should work together with
patriotic zeal for enhancing productivity in the industrial, agriculture,
service and other sectors.

Hossain said: “Productivity could be boosted through highest utilisation of
technology and human resources. The government is committed to turning
Bangladesh into a middle-income country by 2021. In this perspective,
National Productivity Day is very important.”

The productivity could be raised to an optimum level by formulating time-
befitting plans, stopping misuse of resources and proper use of manpower,
machineries and modern appliances, he added.
