Taka 300-crore allocated for Rajshahi’s education uplift

RAJSHAHI, Oct 3, 2018 (BSS)-Around Taka 300-crore has been allocated for
infrastructural development of educational institutes in Rajshahi city.

The allocated funds will contribute a lot towards quality improvement of
education here within next five years.

Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, made this assertion while inaugurating a five-
storey newly constructed building of Barendra College in the city on Tuesday
as chief guest.

Department of Education Engineering (DEE) has constructed the building at a
cost of Taka 3.25 crore under the scheme of quality improvement of education
with assistance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Lawmaker Badsha said educational institutes in Rajshahi metropolis got a
new look amidst massive infrastructure developments during the last five
years as work on 182 out of total 254 schemes was completed.

Necessary infrastructure development of 10 selected non-government
secondary schools and nine colleges was completed with the main thrust of
bringing quality development in education.

“We are constructing necessary infrastructure at selected private collages
in order to ensure quality education with assistance of information and
communication technology,” said Mijanur Rahman, executive engineer of DEE,
while talking to BSS here today on the issue.

In addition to construction of multi-storey buildings at three madrasas, 20
non-government secondary schools were brought under physical infrastructure
development work.

He said new building construction, repairing, renovation and furniture
supply to the government and private schools are being implemented.

At a cost of around Taka 5.30 crore, work on improvement of education
environment is being implemented in six madrasas with financial support from
Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

Extension and maintenance work on nine colleges in district headquarter
including academic, science, arts and chemistry buildings of Rajshahi College
is completed. Construction of a 100-seat dormitory for girl students is
progressing fast.
