Countrywide Development Fair to begin Thursday

DHAKA, Oct 2, 2018 (BSS)- The 4th Development Fair will begin at
district and upazila levels across the country on Thursday aimed at
showcasing the development activities of the government.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the three-day
fair through a videoconference from her official residence, Ganabhaban, in
Dhaka at 10 am on Thursday morning.

Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman came up with the
announcement at a press conference held at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO)
here today.

Chief Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Affairs in PMO
Abul Kalam Azad, Economic Relations Division Secretary Kazi Shofiqul Azam,
Information Secretary Abdul Malek and PMO Secretary Sajjadul Hassan were
present.

With the theme ‘Indomitable Bangladesh in Advancement of Development’,
the fair will showcase the government’s development activities and
achievements made so far in its journey towards making Bangladesh a middle-
income country by 2021 and a developed one by 2041.

In the capital, the fair will be held at the International Trade Fair
ground in Agargaon where 330 stalls will be set up.

The Ministry of Information will set up 11 stalls at the fair venue to
highlight the contribution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman to the country’s development, Liberation War and mass media.

The achievements and successes the information ministry made during the
present government era will also be exhibited there.

Special focus will be given on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s 10 special
initiatives, international recognitions and successes, Vision-2021 and 2041,
ICT development, Bangabandhu Satellite, Padma Bridge project and Rooppur
Nuclear Power Plant project. The country’s investment potential will also be
highlighted.

Similar fairs will also be held at Bangladesh missions abroad so that
Bangladeshi nationals living abroad can know about the government’s
development efforts and its achievements.

The Department of Mass Communication (DMC) will display the government
achievements and development activities through its offices in 64 districts.
The 12 regional office of Bangladesh Betar and other departments’ offices of
the information ministry will highlight their development activities. The
offices will sell or distribute their publications free of cost.

Reality show, essay and paining competition will be arranged at the fair
venues for students.

The three-day fair will end on October 6.
