DHAKA, Oct 2, 2018 (BSS) – The Faculty of Social Sciences of Dhaka
University (DU) here today observed its 48th founding anniversary amid
festivity.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the
programmes by cutting a cake at the teachers’ lounge of social sciences
faculty, said a DU press release.
DU Pro-VC Prof Muhammad Samad, Social Sciences Faculty Dean Prof Sadeka
Halim, DU Treasurer Kamal Uddin, DU Teachers’ Association President Prof Dr
Maksud Kamal, among others, were present on the occasion.
Since its foundation on 2 October 1970, the Faculty has expanded in size
and importance to include a wide range of academic disciplines that study
human culture, society and politics, and that are theoretically based and
empirically well-founded.
The Faculty of social sciences is organized into 16 academic departments
which are responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and
research.
