DHAKA, Sept 30, 2018 (BSS) – World Habitat Day will be observed in the
country tomorrow like elsewhere across the world through holding various
programmes to make the planet livable for all.

Every year, the day is being observed on the first Monday of October.

In 1985, the United Nations at its General Assembly had decided to observe
the day. The day has been observed since 1986. This year’s theme of the day
has been fixed as “Municipal solid waste management”.

Ministry of Housing and Public Works has taken various programmes to mark
the day. The programmes included colorful rallies, seminar, publication of
supplementary and souvenir.

The main rally would be brought out from the Central Shaheed Minar at 7am
and it will end in front of the Jatiya Press Club after parading different
thoroughfares.

Later, a discussion would be held at Osmani Memorial auditorium at 9am.

Besides, a seminar on “Municipal solid waste management” will be held in
the conference room of the Public Works Bhaban at 3pm.
