ACC chairman for research works to detect sources of corruption

DHAKA, Sept 30, 2018 (BSS) – Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman
Iqbal Mahmood today stressed the need for conducting objective research works
to find out the sources of corruption.

“Audit is one of the medium to ensure transparency and accountability (of
an organization). But, many people are making allegations of corruption about
the audit,” he said.

“Objective research on the audit objections is needed to find out the
sources of corruption and prepare a set of recommendations to prevent the
menace,” he also said.

He was speaking at a meeting on ACC’s first research works over audit
objections at education, health and foreign ministries, Water Development
Board and Local Government Engineering Department held at ACC headquarters
here.

Mahmood stressed the need for focused group discussions and using different
other research tools and techniques to detect the unknown sources of
corruption in the audit objections of various organisations.

“The ACC is not only filing cases to prevent corruption, but also working
for creating mass awareness, ensuring methodical reformation and conducting
institutional researches,” he added.

Researcher Dr Md Nuruzzaman presented primary data of his research work at
the meeting.

Among others, ACC Commissioners AFM Aminul Islam and Dr Md Mozammel Haque
Khan, Director General (Prevention) Sarwar Mahmud, Director General (money
laundering) Md Atikur Rahman Khan, were present on the occasion.
