All-China Journalists Asso wants to boost coop with Bangladeshi journos

DHAKA, Sep 30, 2018 (BSS) – The All-China Journalists Association is eager
to boost cooperation with the journalist community in Bangladesh aiming to
bolster people-to-people relations for mutual benefits of the two countries.

“We are looking forward to boosting our cooperation with the journalist
community in Bangladesh for mutual benefits of the people of the two
countries,” said Chen Tao, Deputy Director of International Liaison
Department of All-China Journalists Association, when a 13-member Bangladesh
media delegation visited the office of the Association in Beijing recently.

Private Satellite channel RTV CEO Syed Ashik Rahman led the Bangladesh
media delegation while Narisha of Asia Division of the Association was
present on the occasion.

Highlighting the overall scenario of the Chinese media, Chen Tao said they
are looking forward to boosting technical cooperation with the new
organizations and journalist communities of other countries. “As part of
this, we are very much delighted to have relationships with the Bangladeshi
media and journalists,” Chen Tao added.

Suggesting to hold news award together by both the countries, he said
through this cooperation the journalist associations and organizations of
both the countries can help people of the two countries know each other much
better.

Referring to the ‘One Belt One Road (OBOR)’ initiative mooted by the
Chinese government, Chen Tao said they can hold discussions with the
Bangladesh media and journalists to promote the initiative.

Bangladesh officially became part of OBOR in 2016 after a visit by Chinese
President Xi Jinping. Bangladesh is part of the proposed Bangladesh-China-
India-Myanmar corridor (BCIM), one of the six corridors of OBOR.

Asked about the technological cooperation between the journalists
associations of the two countries, Tao welcomed the proposal saying the
character of media is changing fast in China as the traditional media like
the China Daily and the People’s Daily have transformed their character to
cope with the rise of the new media.

He informed that they hold training courses regularly for the journalists
in China and also set up the new media commission under the association.

The Deputy Director of the All-China Journalists Association also hoped
that there would be more exchange of visits between the journalists of the
two countries in future.

Founded on November 8, 1937, the All-China Journalists Association is now
the biggest national journalist organization in China representing all the
media and its one of the main functions is to safeguard the rights of
journalists in China.

Commemorating the founding day of the association on November 8, the
journalists in China observes this day as ‘Journalist Day’ while the
association holds ‘China News Award’ every two years to recognize the best
performer reporters and editors.

Earlier, the Bangladesh media delegation visited the ‘China Daily’ where
Deputy Director of the Editor’s Office Eric Chen briefed about their
operations.
