Training for journalists over first aid ends

DHAKA, Sept 29, 2018 (BSS) – International Committee of the Red Cross
(ICRC) held a two-day-long first aid training for the members of Dhaka
University Journalists’ Association (DUJA).

A total of 30 university reporters from different media outlets
participated in the workshop ended here today at the CIRDAP auditorium here.
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) facilitated the training course.

Abdou Latif Mbacke, deputy head of delegation of ICRC, handed over
certificates among participants.

After completing the training sessions, the young journalists are now
capable to save a patient or wounded person with immediate care and support
with some life saving techniques. The training will help newsmen in their
professional life as sometimes they face violent situation while performing
duties, Mbacke said in his speech.

Course Coordinator Tarun Kanti Saha, resource person Mrinal Kanti Roy,
ICRC communication officer Rayhan Sultana, DUJA president Asifur Rahman, DUJA
general secretary Mahmudul Hasan Nayon and DUJA executive member Mahdi Al
Muhtasim, among others, addressed the function.

Contents of the programmes include introduction to first aid, chocking,
cardio pulmonary resuscitation, shock, bleeding, wounds and dressing of
wounds, burn, fit, fainting, unconsciousness, poisoning, bites, bone fracture
and transportation of causalities.
