RANGPUR, Sept 28, 2018 (BSS) – The month-long ‘Textile, Handicraft and
Cottage Industries Fair-2018’ is witnessing huge sales of locally produced
garment, handicraft and SME products now on the fourth consecutive week.

The fair has created enthusiasm among local entrepreneurs following huge

increasing since beginning of the fair on September 4 last.

The ‘Mukta Paira Network Event Management’ in association with ‘Prince
Event Management’ is organising the fair on ‘Sena Kunja’ ground by the side
of the Rangpur-Dhaka highway in the city.

The main objective of arranging the fair is to entertain the people and
create opportunity for selling of garment, handicraft and SME products being
produced by local entrepreneurs and creating their linkage with traders and
market operators.

Chairman of ‘Price Event Management’ Ariful Islam Angur said the fair has
created scope for promoting local garment, handicraft and SME sectors and
production of quality products, exhibition and introduction of goods to
expand business and trade.

“We have set up 16 closed-circuit cameras in the fair where huge sales of
locally produced products are being noticed daily at over 100 stalls set up
by different entrepreneurs and SME institutions,” he said.

The visitors are mostly purchasing readymade garments, leather and jute-
made products, handicrafts, processed agricultural products, electrical and
electronic goods, household goods, design and fashion wares and other
products in the fair.

“Thousands of children with their parents, adolescents and students are

in the fair today.

“We are also enjoying entertainment in the facilities set up on the fair
ground though price of every product is comparatively high in comparison with
those available in other local markets,” said visiting housewife Sultana
Pervin with her two kids.

However, she expressed satisfaction over excellent quality of the
exhibited products.

Local entrepreneur Lovely Begum at her excellently decorated stall there
said the entire exhibited garment, handicraft and SME products are of export
quality with international standard.

other products in the fair.

Associate Professor of Begum Rokeya University Dr Tuhin Wadud said the

of high quality in their stalls.

“The fair would help to explore brighter prospect of the textile,
handicraft and SME sectors and inspire local entrepreneurship for producing
export quality products to export those abroad also to earn huge foreign
exchange,” he added.

Dr Tuhin put importance on engagement of more female entrepreneurs in the
growing textile, handloom, cottage industry and SME sectors to further
