Private sector investments to flourish tourism

RANGPUR, Sept 28, 2018 (BSS) – More private sector investments along
with government efforts could flourish the unexplored potentiality in the
tourism sector of Rangpur region.

The observation came at a post-rally discussion arranged in observance of
the World Tourism Day-2018 by Rangpur Parjatan Motel at its conference here
with the theme of ‘Tourism and the Digital Transformation’ on Thursday.

The Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation and Rangpur district administration
extended assistance to the Rangpur Parjatan Motel authority in arranging
various programmes to celebrate the day.

Earlier, a huge rally, participated by students, teachers, youths,
government and non-government officials and employees and civil society
members, was brought out from Rangpur Parjatan Motel and paraded the city
streets.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Sharif Ms Foyzur Rahman
inaugurated the programme by releasing balloons and pigeons, lead the rally
and attended the discussion as the chief guest.

With Manager of Rangpur Parjatan Motel Syeed Md Tarikul Islam in the
chair, its Deputy Manager Matiar Rahman, Inspector of Rangpur Tourist Police
Nazrul Islam, among others, addressed the discussion.

In his welcome speech, Tarikul Islam discussed various steps taken by
the present government to explore the prevailing incredible potential in the
tourism sector to accelerate economic advancement.

He added there are potential places with historical interests,
archaeological sites and tourist spots in Rangpur region to attract tourists
from home and abroad through more private sector initiatives.

The chief guest said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina has been implementing initiatives to flourish the country’s
prospective tourism industry for further strengthening the national economy.
