Narayan for banning on catching hilsha in specific duration
DHAKA, Sept 27, 2018 (BSS) – Fisheries and Livestock Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda today called for taking inter-country decision for banning on catching hilsha in a specific duration like in Bangladesh to protect the mother hilsha for boosting production of the fish.
“The production of hilsha fish will increase to a great extent if the countries where hilsha is produced take such decision,” he told the inaugural function of the three-day ‘International Hilsha, Tourism and Development Festival-2018’ here.
Padokkhep Bangladesh organized the festival marking the International Tourism Day at a city hotel.
Kazi Rozi, MP, Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Shyamsundar Shikder, Department of Fisheries Director General Abu Sayeed Md Rashedul Haque, Dhaka University former Vice Chancellor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique and Sammilita Sangskritik Jote President Golam Quddus, among others, addressed the function with eminent poet and convener of the festival Asad Chowdhury in the chair.
