Exploring tourism potential in Panchagarh stressed

PANCHAGARH, Sept 27, 2018 (BSS) – Government officials here today stressed
the need for exploring enormous tourism potential in Panchagarh aiming to
accelerate economic advancement in the sub-Himalayan district.

They said private entrepreneurs should be encouraged to invest in the
country’s tourism sector to utilise its potential for strengthening national
economy.

The observations came at a discussion arranged by the Panchagarh district
administration at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office,
marking the World Tourism Day- 2018.

Earlier, a colourful rally, participated by students, teachers, youths,
government and non-government officials, civil society members and
journalists, was brought out in the district town.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Jahirul Islam led the rally and attended the
discussion as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad
Golam Azam in the chair.

Principal of Panchagarh Technical School and College Abdul Kuddus,
Assistant Superintended of Police Rokon-Ud-Dowla Lupom, Panchagarh Press Club
President Shafikul Alam, and student of Panchagarh Technical School and
College Ummey Habiba Ferdousi Meem, among others, spoke at the discussion.

Citing a member of archaeological sites and charming tourist spots of
Panchagarh, the speakers discussed the huge tourism prospect prevailing in
the sub-Himalayan region.

Jahirul Islam said many initiatives taken by the present government, led
by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, for exploring the prospects of the country’s
tourism sector.

“More initiatives should be taken jointly by private and public sectors
to attract travelers from both home and abroad to further develop the
country’s tourism sector since its tourism prospect is yet to be tapped
fully,” he said.
