ICT vital for flourishing tourism sector

RAJSHAHI, Sept 27, 2018 (BSS)- Speakers at a post-rally discussion here
today unequivocally called for boosting the use of Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) in tourism sector for its successful
flourishing.

They mentioned that there are enormous potentialities of tourism industry
in the region and noted that the public and private sectors concerned should
come forward and work together so that the potentialities could be utilized
through the best uses of ICT.

District Administration and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) jointly
organized the discussion at Parjatan Motel conference hall in observance of
World Tourism Day-2018.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) SM Abdul Kader, Additional Deputy Commissioner
(General) Alamgir Kabir, President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and
Industries Md Muniruzzaman, Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat
and Brac District Representative Jahedul Islam addressed the meeting.

The discussants observed that substantial and sustainable promotion of
tourism sector through the best uses of its existing potentiality can be the
vital means of infusing dynamism into regional economy.

Side by side with the government’s efforts, private sector investment has
become an urgent need to flourish the sector for earning foreign currencies.

In his remarks, Abdul Kader said tourism has been identified as the
prioritised sector for overall economic development of Bangladesh.

He urged the authorities concerned to find out valuable sites and take
necessary steps to protect and conserve those through proper renovation.
