VAT Commissionerate in Dhaka East earns Tk 529.54cr revenue

DHAKA, Dec 11, 2017 (BSS) – Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Dhaka (East) collected Tk 529.54 crore revenue during the July-October period of the current fiscal year (2017-18), up Tk 11 crore against the target of Tk 518.54 crore.

“We’ve a target to collect a total of Tk 2,103 crore in fiscal year 2017- 18 and during the July-October period the commissionerate has collected Tk 529.54 crore. I hope that we would be able to exceed the target of the fiscal year,” said zone commissioner Md Zamal Hossain while exchanging views with members of Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) here today.

Hossain said there was one type of fear among people about tax but the situation has been changed and tax administration is now under a changing process. He sought cooperation from the mass media to raise awareness among the people about tax.

Additional commissioner of the commissionerate Md Zakir Hossain, ERF president Saif Islam Delal, general secretary Ziaur Rahman and finance secretary SM Rashidul Islam, among others, spoke at the programme.

As part of the ‘National VAT Week-2017 programmes, the commissionerate will hold a view-exchange meeting with 50 large establishments. It will also hold a training programme for small and medium enterprises and quiz competition for school children.
