No alternative to victory of pro-Liberation forces: Nasim

DHAKA, Sept 25, 2018 (BSS) – The 14-party alliance spokesperson and Awami League presidium member Mohammed Nasim today said there is no alternative to victory of pro-Liberation forces in the next general election.

“The next general election will be held as per the constitution. The people will give their verdict in the polls,” he told newsmen after a view-exchange meeting of 14-party alliance with leaders of professional organizations at the central office of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jashod) at Bangabandhu Avenue here.

Chaired by Workers’ Party president and Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon, it was addressed, among others, by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal president and Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, Tariqat Federation (BTF) Chairman Syed Nazibul Bashar Maizbhandari and Awami League Joint General Secretary Abdur Rahman.

Prime Minister’s Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Jatiya Press Club President Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman, Ekatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee President Shahriar Kabir, Sammilita Sangskritik Jote President Golam Quddus, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Secretary General Dr Ehtesamul Haque, Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad Convener Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun,

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University former Vice-Chancellor Professor Kamrul Hasan, Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) President Engineer Md Abdus Sabur, singer Fakir Alamgir, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalist (BFUJ) Secretary General Shaban Mahmood and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) General Secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury addressed the meeting, among others.

BFUJ former President and Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Abul Kalam Azad and Editor-in-Chief of the Bangladesh Post Sharif Shahab Uddin were also present, among others, on the occasion.

Mohammed Nasim, also health and family welfare minister, said the 14-party alliance will hold a rally in Dhaka on September 29 where leaders of different professional bodies will address.

Speaking on the occasion, Rashed Khan Menon said during the BNP-Jamaat led four-party alliance government regime, “we could not take to street but we did not leave street.”

On the other hand, BNP could not wage any movement in the last 10 years as they did not know on which issue they would wage movement, he added.

Hasanul Haq Inu said the alliance of 14-party does not depend on whether BNP-Jamaat takes part in the election or not. The unity will remain intact until the communal evil forces will be uprooted from the country, he added.
