Jabbar for NID verification to open Facebook ID
DHAKA, Sept 25, 2018 (BSS) – Posts, Telecommunications and Information
Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar today laid emphasis on the need of
verifying national identity (NID) to open Facebook account.
“Our relation with Facebook authorities is far better now than ever.
Bengali is used in Facebook, but we are facing some problems in using the
contents. I hope Facebook will take effective initiatives to solve the
problems,” Jabbar said.
The minister came up with the observations while addressing a workshop
on tackling, controlling, monitoring digital crimes on social networking
sites, and taking legal actions against these at capital’s BTRC auditorium.
Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Ministry, BTRC and
Facebook jointly organised the workshop.
ICT Division Secretary Zuena Aziz, additional secretary to Posts and
Telecommunications Division Md Azizul Islam, Facebook’s Head of Connectivity
Policy (South and Central Asia Affairs) Ashwani Rana and BTRC Chairman Md
Zahurul Haque addressed the function, among others.
Seeking Facebook authorities help in taking effective measures against
propaganda and rumors on the site, Jabbar said the problems can be solved
with the detection of real identities of the Facebook users.
