RANGPUR, Sept 23, 2018 (BSS) – Speaker of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Dr
Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today said foreigners are conducting research on the
success stories of Bangladesh in attaining autarky in food production and
food security.

“Adoption and implementation of time-befitting decisions by the government
of Bangladesh led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and relentless endevours of
the farmers have made the country self-reliant on food to ensure food
security,” she said.

Dr Chaudhury said this while exchanging views with local people and
addressing street rallies held at different places of Barodorga and
Bhendabari unions in her parliamentary constituency of Pirganj upazila as the
chief guest.

Narrating massive developments across the country in last 10 years, the
speaker said local leaders and workers of Awami League (AL) and its associate
bodies should highlight and disseminate the development messages among the
common people.

She said Bangladesh is now a role global model for development of all
sectors, including development and empowerment of women.

“During post liberation periods, Bangladesh has achieved the biggest pride
of fulfilling criteria for graduation from least developed countries to
attain the status of developing nations under the leadership of Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina,” she said.

“With continuing support of the common people, we will be able to build a
middle income nation by 2021, a completely developing country by 2024 and a
developed and prosperous Bangladesh by 2041,” Dr Shirin said.

As a result of concrete and well-planned planning and diligent efforts of
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the digital Bangladesh has now become a reality
enabling the country to enter the developing world.

She called upon young generations to use social media for building their
brighter future, innovating creative works and development of the country and
not using the same to create rumors and confusion.

“The present government has already implemented the commitments made
before the 10th Jatiya Sangsad election.

“We have already given electricity to every house and implemented massive
infrastructural developments of roads, culverts, bridges, schools, colleges,
mosques, madrashas, temples and other institutions in Pirganj upazila,” she
said.

Citing the epoch-making success of the present government in raising
production of electricity to all-time record 20,000MW in the country, she
said the marginal students at the grassroots are getting the opportunity to
study in electrical light.

The speaker said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
has gifted the Bengali nation an independent and sovereign Bangladesh by
suffering in jails and tolerating untold oppression, torture and abuse
throughout his life.

“For building the developed Sonar Bangla free from hunger, poverty and
discrimination as dreamt by Bangabandhu, you (people) have to continue your
support and assistance to Prime Minsiter Sheikh Hasina in future,” she said.

Presided over by President of Barodorga union AL Saiful Islam Dulal, Joint
Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Jahangir Alam Bulbul, Senior Vice-
president of district AL Chhayadat Hossain Bakul, Pirganj Municipal Mayor SM
Tazimul Islam Shamim and Rangpur Zila Parishad Member Monayem Sarkar Manu and
Barodorga Union Chairman Nurul Haque spoke on the occasion.
