KUET’s celebrates 15th founding anniversary

KHULNA, Sept 22, 2018 (BSS) – Students, teachers and employees of Khulna
University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) celebrated its 15th founding
anniversary on Saturday with much fanfare and festivity on the campus.

On the occasion, the university authorities have chalked out day-long
programmes to celebrate the day.

The day’s began with hoisting of national and university flags by
Bangladesh University Grant Commission (UGC) Prof Dr M Shah Nowaz Ali as
chief guest. The chief guest announced the day’s programme by releasing
balloons and pigeons before the administration building.

Chaired by its Vice-Chancellor Dr Kazi Sazzad Hossain, UGC member Prof Dr
M Shah Nowaz Ali and president of ‘KUET DAY’ celebration committee and Dean
of Civil Engineering faculty Prof Dr Kazi Hamidul Bary spoke, among others.

Later, a colourful procession was brought out which paraded the campus
streets and ended at student welfare center where a discussion was held.

Vice-Chancellor of KUET Dr Kazi Sazzad Hossain chaired the discussion
while UGC member Prof Dr M Shah Nowaz Ali addressed as chief guest.

Prof Nowaz Ali said KUET is playing a pioneering role for development of
Information Communication Technology (ICT) in Bangladesh.

He said KUET produced not only meritorious graduates but also country’s
famous citizens, who are now playing important roles both at home and abroad.

Later, different programmes, including poster, innovative project
exhibition, technical paper presentation, discussion, friendly football
match, doa mahfil, cultural functions and exhibitions were held.

The chief guest planted a tree sapling at ‘Durbar Bangla’, a sculptor in
memory of Liberation War, premises at noon.

On September 1, 2003 KUET was established in Rail gate area under
Khanjahan Ali police station in the city. The 15th KUET anniversary day was
held today as September 1 was a public holiday.
