Present govt working to ensure homogeneous development: Speaker

RANGPUR, Sept 22, 2018 (BSS) – Speaker of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangshad Dr
Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury here today said the present government is working
relentlessly to ensure homogeneous development across the country.

“Every union of Pirganj upazila in Rangpur has got touch of massive
developments during the last ten years,” she said and urged all for working
unitedly to ensure civic amenities and facilities at the grassroots levels.

Dr Sharmin said while addressing a development related streets rally held
on Kutubpur Madrasha ground under Mithipur union of Pirganj upazila as the
chief guest.

She said the government has already implemented the commitments pledged in
the election manifesto of the 10th Jatiya Sangshad elections.

“By this time, every house got electricity in Pirganj upazila where many
roads, culverts and bridges, schools and colleges, mosques, madrashas and
temples and infrastructural development works have been completed,” she said.

Referring to the production of all-time record 20,000MW electricity in the
country, she said, the marginal students are also getting the opportunity to
study in electric light.

“Bangladesh is moving fast forward on the highway of development under the
leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build a middle income country
by 2021 and developed Bangladesh by 2041,” she said.

For the backward section population, the social safety-net cover has been
enlarged with increase of other allowances including education stipends,
elderly allowance, widow allowance, lactating mothers’ support and honorarium
of freedom fighters.

“Computer training is being provided to youths at grassroots to enrich
their knowledge on information technology. To ensure participation of women
in all fields, training on sewing machine and sewing machines are being
provided to them,” she said.

Considering the women as the main stakeholders of development, the
government has launched the ‘One House, One Farm’ project and established the
‘Polli Sanchoy Bank’ to provide financial support to the project
beneficiaries, customers and clients.

“Sheikh Hasina has established 13,500 community clinics to provide
improved and integrated health, family planning, childbirth and maternity
services and nutrition services to the underprivileged rural people at their
doorstep,” she said.

Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Ministry Jahangir Alam Bulbul,
Senior Vice- president of district Awami League (AL) Chhayadat Hossain Bakul,
Pirganj Municipal Mayor Tazimul Islam Shamim, Mithipur Union Chairman SM
Faruk Ahmed and local AL leaders were present.

Earlier, the Speaker laid the foundation stone of the five-story building
of Pirganj Central Jam-e-Mosque in Pirganj upazila town
