DHAKA, Sept 21, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza
admitted that poor batting caused the massive defeat of his team against
Afghanistan in the Super Four round of the 2018 Asia Cup in Dubai on
Thursday.

However, the skipper hoped to come up with something better against India
leaving behind the agony. He was speaking at a post-match press conference on
Thursday after a massive 136-run defeat against Afghanistan.

Rashid Khan scored a 31-ball fifty to propel Afghanistan to a confident
total, he also bagged two wickets and came up with a brilliant run-out to
leave his opponent awestruck.

”I think Afghanistan outplayed us from the 40th over in the first
innings. Our batting was not up to the mark and the bowling in the last 10
overs was poor,” he told reporters.

He said it would be difficult to look forward if the players hold on to
the past. The important part of the tournament starts now and they have to
think about it (match against India).

The Bangladesh skipper said it would have been better if they carried
forward the [winning] momentum.

The Narail express hoped that Mushfiqur Rahim and Mustafizur Rahman would
bolster their strength in their first super four match against India. The duo
was rested as team management wanted them to be fresh against India as both
were nursing their respective injuries.

”It is hard to recover from the heat and back to back matches. Hopefully
we will come up with something better and play hard,” said the Bangladesh
captain.
