Experts for promoting food safety governance in poultry sector

RANGPUR, Sept 21, 2018 (BSS) – Experts at a workshop have stressed on
strictly following the business regulation to promote food safety governance
in the poultry sector to produce healthier poultry birds and meet nutrition
of the population.

They put importance on providing adequate training, technology and
assistance to poultry bird farm owners, farmers and common people for
accelerating hygienic growth of the poultry sector to cut poverty and
strengthen national economy.

They came up with the opinion on Thursday afternoon at the views-sharing
workshop on ‘Business Regulation to Promote Food Safety Governance in Poultry
Sector’ held at Public Library hall room in the city.

Rangpur Sadar unit of Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) with
assistance of the Department of Livestock Services, European Union, British
Council, Ukaid and Promoting Knowledge for Accountable Systems organised the
workshop.

Government and NGO officials, poultry bird farm owners, entrepreneurs,
poultry feed suppliers, poultry medicine traders, representatives of poultry
medicine producers, poultry traders and civil society members participated.

Deputy Director (Local Government) Ruhul Amin Mian attended the event as
the chief guest with President of Rangpur district unit of CAB Abdur Rahman
in the chair.

District Livestock Officer Dr Mahbub Alam, Poultry Development Officer
Fazlul Karim and Sadar Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Sinchita Rahman delivered
presentations as resource persons.

General Secretary of Rangpur district unit of CAB Ahsanul Haque Tuhin
delivered welcome speech narrating goals and objectives of the workshop
arranged to ensure production and marketing of healthier and hygienic poultry
birds.

Karim discussed technologies for proper rearing and feeding of poultry
birds, poultry medicines, poultry feeds, combating diseases, vaccination,
caring eggs during breeding of chicks and marketing of poultry products.

Dr Alam said chicken eggs and meat are being produced by adopting latest
scientific technologies and maintaining maximum safety for human health to
meet nutritional demand of the population.

“During the next 10 years, Rangpur region might lead the country’s
poultry industry as the private sector entrepreneurs are setting up
modernised feed mills, hatcheries and poultry farms in the region more than
other regions,” he said.

The chief guest urged concerned stakeholders for properly following the
business regulation to promote safe food governance in the poultry sector for
achieving more success in flourishing the poultry sector.
