Call to empower female for country’s development

GAIBANDHA, Sept 21, 2018 (BSS) – Speakers at a function here underscored the need for female empowerment through engaging them in various income generating activities and ensuring their rights in all spheres of the society to take the nation ahead.

“Apart from that, an emphasis should be given to eliminate all kinds of oppression on female and stop other violence against the women to build a better society,” they said.

The observations came at a district level workshop on women empowerment and eradication of violence at the conference room of deputy commissioner (DC) here on Thursday.

With technical support of CARE Bangladesh, SKS Foundation, a reputed non government organization, arranged the workshop under SHOUHARDO III Program funded by USAID and Government of Bangladesh.

DC Gautam Chandra Pal addressed the workshop as the chief guest while deputy director of local government section of DC office Rokhsana Begum presided over it.

Deputy director of department of youth development Tofael Ahmed Khan, district women affairs officer Nargis Jahan, probationary officer of social services department Nasir Uddin Shah Palash, senior technical manager of CARE Bangladesh Ruhul Amin, project manager Sanksar Kumar Roy, and journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman addressed the workshop, among others.

Earlier, a power point presentation was made by technical manager of CARE Bangladesh Mukti Majumder.

Pal in his speeches emphasized women empowerment with financial emancipation and rooting out all sorts of violence against women in the society.

He urged all to change the mindset to put an end to the gender disparity for pushing the country forward.

More than 50 officials, social workers, NGO activists, teachers, beneficiaries and members of youth groups, including journalists of print and electronic media participated in the workshop.
