NEW DELHI, Sept. 21, 2018 (BSS/XINHUA) – At least six people have been killed and two others injured in a truck-car collision in the western Indian state of Maharashtra, police said Friday.

The accident occurred in the state’s Hingoli district.

“A car carrying the eight victims collided head on with a truck coming from opposite direction on Hingoli- Washim highway late Thursday night,” a police official said.

While six people died in the impact of the crash, those injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital where their condition is said to be critical, he added.

Local media reports said that the accident triggered massive snarls on the highway Friday morning, with tailbacks up to 2 km.

A probe has been ordered into the incident, the official said. “The truck driver has been booked for rash and negligent driving,” he added.
