Mosharraf for protecting environment while constructing establishment in city

DHAKA, Sept 20, 2018 (BSS)- Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain today laid importance on protecting environment while constructing any establishment and implementing development projects in the city.

“We need to protect our water bodies in and around Dhaka city and need to give importance on protecting the environment of the city while constructing establishments and implementing development projects,” he said, speaking at a meeting at the Local Government Division auditorium here.

Mosharraf was presiding over the 13th meeting of cabinet committee formed to review the Detailed Area Plan (DAP), said a press release.

Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Environment, Forests and Climate Change Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, Water Resources Minister Anowar Hossain Manju, Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif and Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor, Dr Selina Hayat Ivy, among others, were present at the meeting.

The LGRD minister said the natural environment of the city would not be saved if the natural water bodies would not be protected.

“We should stop setting up factories here and there. We should keep in mind the future of the country while setting up every establishment,” he added.

“We are working to make a developed Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Therefore, we should think about long-term effect before implementing any development project,” Mosharraf said.
