37 individuals, organisations get BB remittance award

DHAKA, Sept 20, 2018 (BSS) – Thirty seven individuals and organisations,
including five commercial banks, today got the “Bangladesh Bank Remittance
Award-2017” for sending home the highest amount of remittance, investing
bonds and playing a vital role to receive the remittance.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith handed over the awards at a function at the
Bangladesh Bank Training Academy (BBTA) in the city.

Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Fazle Kabir, Additional Secretary of the
Financial Institutions Division Kamrun Nahar Ahmed and Additional Secretary
of the Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Dr Ahmed Monirus
Salehin attended the function as special guests with BB Deputy Governor SM
Muniruzzaman in the chair.

Muhith said Bangladeshi expatriates are playing a vital role to accelerate
the country’s economy. “Bangladesh has become a role model for development in
the world. Bangladeshi expatriates are playing a vital role for Bangladesh’s
success,” he added.

Twenty nine remitters received the awards under the highest remittance
sender category while three Non Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) for investing in
the bond and five commercial banks under the highest remittance receiver
commercial bank category.

The banks are Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL), Agrani Bank Limited,
Sonali Bank Limited, Dutch Bangla Bank Limited and Janata Bank Limited.
