DHAKA, Sept 20, 2018 (BSS) – Leaders of Befaqul Madarisil Arabia Bangladesh (BMAB) today lauded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for giving the Dawra-e-Hadith (Taqmil) of Qawmi Madrasas the status of master’s degree (Islamic Studies and Arabic).

Addressing a rally here in the afternoon, they congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the ministers, the members of parliament, Moulana Ahmad Shafi and others concerned for the recognition of the Dawra-e-Hadith (Taqmil) of Qawmi Madrasas as equivalent to the master’s degree.

The BMAB held the rally at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque before bringing out a procession hailing the government.

Governments in the past mocked with the ulema in the name of giving the Dawra-e-Hadith the status of master’s degree, they said, adding that Sheikh Hasina, daughter of the country’s architect Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, has done this.

“We have information that the Prime Minister is going to face turmoil in near future for giving the Dawra-e-Hadith the status of master’s degree. But if any conspiracy is hatched against the premier and the country, teachers and students of Qawmi Madrasas will resist it at any cost,” BMAB Vice-President Mufti Md Fayzullah said.

BMAB Co-Chairman Shaikhul Hadith Moulana Ashraf Ali presided over the rally addressed by Moulana Abul Qasem of Lalbagh Madrasa, BMAB Assistant Secretary General Mufti Nurul Amin, Vice-President Moulana Muslimuddin Rahim, Member Moulana Abul Hasnat Amini, Director General Moulana Jubayer Ahmed Chowdhury and Secretary General Shaikhul Hadith Moulana Abdul Quddus.

Later, a congratulatory procession was brought out from the venue and it concluded after coming in front of the Jatiya Press Club and holding a munajat. On Wednesday, a bill titled ‘Dawra-e-Hadith (Taqmil) from Qawmi Madrasas as equivalent to certificate of master’s degree (Islamic Studies and Arabic) under Al Haiatul Ulaya Lil-Jamiatul Kawmiya Bangladesh’ 2018 was passed in the parliament.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid moved the bill in the House which was unanimously passed in voice votes with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Earlier, the cabinet approved a draft law recognizing the certificate of Dawra-e-Hadith (Taqmil) from Qawmi madrasas as equivalent to the certificate of master’s degree (Islamic Studies and Arabic).

The approval came from a regular cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on August 13.
