DHAKA, Sept 19, 2018 (BSS)- Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said violence and sabotage centering the forthcoming national polls would not be tolerated as anarchic situation would be thwarted.
“BNP and their fundamentalist ally Jamaat are trying to create anarchy centering the national polls like as 2014 election. They are hatching conspiracies to put the government into trouble. But pro-liberation force Awami League will win once again as people have reposed confidence on ‘Boat’, the party’s election symbol,” he said, speaking at a reception at the auditorium of Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) here.
The Roads and Highways Department Sromik Kormachari Union accorded the reception to Obaidul Quader as the government regularized the jobs of the third and fourth class employees of the department. President of the union Md Golam Kibria chaired the programme.
Quader said a vested quarter already began conspiring to create unstable situation across the country centering the upcoming parliamentary elections. They are intriguing to topple the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he added.
He said BNP is now shedding tears with complaints at the United Nations after failing to wage any movement capitalizing on the quota reform movement and students’ movement for safe road.
Describing the incumbent government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as people-friendly one, Quader said the people of the country are happy with overall development and as well as the achievement of the government.
The minister said there are 7,059 third and fourth class employees in the Roads and Highways Department. Of them, a total of 2,254 employees have been regularized in the first phase. The rest will be regularized in phases, he added.
Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Md Nazrul Islam, Roads and Highways Department Chief Engineer Ibne Alam Hasan and Jatiya Sramik League President Shukkur Mahmud, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Obaidul Quader attended a function at Dhaka Club.
After the programme, Quader told reporters that the next parliamentary elections will be held as per the Constitution.
He said BNP could not wage any movement in the last 10 years as the common people are staying away from them.
